Nowadays most letters do not use indentation of paragraphs. However, sometimes you may need to indent each paragraph on a whole document. You should not do this by clicking the 'TAB' key at the beginning of each paragraph, because it is a very slow way of doing it and if you need to take them out you will have to take them out of every paragraph.
It is better to use the tools on the ruler, because you can quickly change these and change the whole document.
1. Select all the text that needs to have an indent
2. this will give you an indent at the beginning of each paragraph
3. An indent that 'goes the other way' is called a hanging indent
